“First Lady Michelle Obama: The Audacity of the Strong Black Woman…”

Wow… There is some really exciting stuff going on out here, so let’s get right at it…

Let me start by saying, “I’m black and I’m Proud of it…”    I am the product of a very strong black woman who practically single-handedly raised seven strong black children, stood down racist white land snatchers in the sixties, and fought off mean old black men who thought they were going to have their way with her…  My mother is 85 and still a strong black woman at heart…

Wow…  I said all of that to say, “First Lady Michelle Obama does not personally know my mother but (here we go, the first big phat but in the room) they have at least one thing in common – The title of being “A Strong Black Woman…””

Wow…  Culturally Speaking, black women have had to take the brunt of all the negative that the racist slave era could bolster…  The black woman was despised by the white slave masters by day and brutally raped by them at night…  This resulted in creating an entire new race of people called “mulatto…”

“According to the 1860 census, 39 percent of freedmen in Southern cities were mulattoes. Among urban slaves, the proportion of mulattoes was 20 percent. One out of every four black people in a Southern city was a mulatto…”  http://www.etymonline.com/cw/mulatto.htm

Wow…   Even prior to becoming slaves, african women were the workforce of the african culture…  The african woman was responsible for all the cooking therefore that meant she was the one that gathered all the wood and water daily in order to accomplish this end…  And there are far too many accounts to mention of black women being used as laborer in the slave masters fields and then required to satisfy his sexual advances at night…  Black women have always been strong – most of the time by nature and other times out of necessity (survival)…  A black woman’s African roots made her physically strong, but (another big phat “mental strength’ but in the room) black women had to develop a stong mental strength to deal with evils of slavery…  I wrote an earlier post which talked about if anyone considers black women as “Angry Black Women” then one would have to concede that it is the results of the “Generational PTSD of Slavery…”   https://culturallyconscious.wordpress.com/2011/07/10/president-obama-the-audacity-of-the-generational-ptsd-of-slavery/

Wow… Now that we have explored the plight of the “Strong Black Woman,” we can only conclude that it is this “strength” that has caused all black women throughout the diaspora to be “Survivors…”   So First Lady Michelle Obama is and should always proudly be a “Strong Black Woman…”   To be any thing less than a “strong black woman” negates all the struggles of strong black women (one of which is my mother and I am sure, her own mother to name a few) everywhere throughout the diaspora…

Wow…  Do you feel me???  I know you do…

Wow… You guys know I like to keep it interesting…  First Lady Michelle Obama is not an “Angry Black Woman” like some would like to portray her, but (another big phat black but in the room) two things she has been culturally endowed with – an “Black Woman Apple Bottom  shape” and the Strength of Generations of Strong Black Women…  Black women, for the most part,  all have a “beautiful apple bottom shape” that has been admired by men and women all over the world…  There are exception like Kim Kardashian and  J’lo but (big phat black “apple bottom” but in the room) Culturally Speaking, “Big Apple Bottom Buts” are the norm in the African-American community…    First Lady Obama  has been black all of her life and First Lady for less than four years, so anyone who is surprised that the First Lady has black female features is an ignoramus…  I remember how stupid the congressman sounded who had the audacity to make such an ignorant statement about the First Lady’s posterior…  First Lady Obama is extremely physically fit, so what in hell was this guy talking about…  http://serendip.brynmawr.edu/exchange/node/5516  Culturally Speaking, in the black community there is a phrase that says, “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt…”  http://quoteinvestigator.com/2010/05/17/remain-silent/     Hummmmmmm???

Wow…  First Lady Michelle Obama is admired by many renown dignitaries around the world as an awesome First Lady…  First Lady Michelle Obama is also admired by billions of “Black Women” around the world who love her for being  a “Strong Beautiful Black “Apple Bottom” Woman” just like them…

Wow…  Now that is some serious stuff…

Wow…  Did I say that, “I am black and I am proud of it???”  Just to insure that you heard me correctly, please allow me to say, in no uncertain terms,

“I am black, and I love  big “Black Apple Bottom Buts” and I am proud of it…”

There you have it…

Wow…  If you don’t believe me, I wrote a poem about it…

I used some of these quotes and information in my blog about the treatment of African American women in America and if the treatment against them is getting better, Would you mind reading my blog at http://katieleppert.blogspot.com/2012/02/is-racial-stereotyping-among-black.html ?
